Downtown is where Titusville started. The settlement at Sand Point, where Garden Street meets the river, had a post office by 1859, and Henry Titus renamed it Titusville in 1873. The original town ran from Garden Street south to South Street, between the river and the railroad. (North Brevard history)
Call (321) 220-9883Older homes, older wells
Downtown and the streets around it hold some of the oldest houses in Brevard County. They're on city water now, but some keep a well for the garden, and a few of those wells have been there for decades. Common problems:
- Galvanized fittings that rust through and let air into a jet pump.
- Worn-out pressure switches that need a tap before the pump will start.
- Old steel tanks that waterlog and short cycle.
Sometimes a new switch or seal is enough. Sometimes the honest answer is a new pump. You'll know which before work starts.
Common questions
Is it worth fixing a very old well pump?
If the motor tests sound and only a switch, seal or valve failed, usually yes. If the motor is worn out, replacement is better value.
Can you work in a tight downtown yard?
Yes. Mention the access when you call so the right equipment comes.
Do you cover the riverfront streets?
Yes, all of downtown and the river side of US 1.
